Awesome! Thanks guys and gals!

I'm digging in on the fight, and hope to be getting more signatures every day... the main issue has been that they've been sending so many people home because our machinery is falling apart, that it's been hard to catch people after work to get them to sign.

I think if it goes to a vote, that the people will vote yes... my main hurdle with this has been "I'll vote yes when it goes to a vote, but I don't want to sign a petition where it could be traced back to me".

The management's scare tactics certainly have taken ahold of some.

I have a couple of questions:

1) Do you have a "top out" when it comes to your pay? Here the top out is 7yrs so when people that are just now celebrating their 7th yr are making the same amount as someone that has been on the shop floor for 10yrs.

2) We hear about all the good things that come with a Union but what some of the negitives? In Clarksville there are some that choice not be part of the Union, what are the reasons that they give?

3) How long have you had the Union? How big of an impact did it have when it was started?

4) What is your yearly raises like. I know it is in your contract but down here we are told that is comparable to local businesses, we are never told who those companys are, but we dispute that becuase our standard raise is only a quarter a year! Can you imagine how you would feel when you are Toped Out and told you are only getting a quarter as a raise for the entire year!!!

Hang in there guys and gals. There are so many facets to having a contract. Pay and Benefit increases are just a start. Having a process, bump rights, where if you want to move into another area for whatever reason, you can is one. Some say "well, we might have something like that now", but usually it is up to managment as to where you will end up being able to exercise those rights, whereas with a contract you have definitive rights that are spelled out. Moving between shifts are spelled out, vacation, personal leave, etc. are all spelled out. Hang in there and fight for your rights. The IAM will be there with you.....

Thanks to all you folks who came down to FL to help us out. Those of us who are trying to get this thing up and running are still plugging along. Like a lot of other places, our management has most folks afraid to speak up for themselves, but we are knocking down fences and in some cases we are simply climbing over them, so to speak.
Management is actually helping this and they are pushing more and more people to us than they are keeping away. Keep the faith, we will get there.

Hey Yall, I think you might remember me. I gave the little BJ/AJ speach before the blitz. First I want to appologize for the way many here treated you. It still amazes me that there were those that slammed the door on their chance to hear what it actually means to be a union plant from those who do the same jobs that we do here day after day for less money, no contract and no representation. I can only tell you that fear played a large role in that kind of reaction. Take heart in the fact that your efforts were not in vain. Many are finaly losing their fear as they learn that it is their right to unite. This plant is begining to wake up to the fact that a good and permanent change will only take place through a united workforce. Thanks Again!!!!!
