I heard today that Team Leaders can sign a petition. Is that true and will that vote count?

I spent almost half my life in the US military. One of the things that I and my brother soldiers defended and still defend today is our right to vote. Now I work at a place where I have to vote for the right to vote. Unbelievable!!! Does anyone out there remember when we talked about things like a plant daycare center. Now we have a security center. Does anyone out there remember when we talked about an excercise room? Now we have camaras in the breakroom and a fence around the plant. We are locked inside all day while Patrick and his minions threaten and push us to reach a quota arrived at by some mathamatical formula. Have you noticed that it is always our fault if we do not reach this quota? Wake Up Folks!! Do you think it is going to get better? Find a way to make your vote for the right to vote!! Is this the kind of place you want your children to work in? How about your grandchildren? This company has been good to me in the past but I am begining to feel like I am working for a paranoid dictator. Whats next barbwire?

I can remember when I started at this plant. It has been several years, so I knew the old management and the people in HR. It was a family atmosphere then. If there was a problem you could easily go to Joe, or Tom, or Michelle, or just about any of management in the office. You did not have a fear of repercussion at voicing your problem or displeasure with things you did not agree with. But in the past 3 years, we have seen the family environment, the open door policy slip away. Even though Julie likes to tell us, "Tell me what's on your mind. You can speak up." Now of course we have the fear that if we complain, they will put a black mark by your name. It is WRONG for a company to have this power over the employees! We should not have to fear the company we work for! Getting the union in here is not all about the money. It is about being treated fairly, to feel we are once again an important part on this company. There used to be so much more pride in the product we put out. I would see it in alot of the employees. We cared about our work. Now people are so disgruntled, and morale is so low. Sometimes it is hard now to take pride in your work, only for the fact that you know management does not appreciate us. Let's get together people!!! We really need some representation now more than ever!!
