The Machinist Union is a huge part of why Harley Davidson is still in operation today. When AMF (Bowling Ball Company) had the company it was being run by a group of suits who had no idea had to make a motorcycle SO this started the downward spiral of the company towards bankruptcy. IT WAS ONLY after the employees got together (IAM employees)along with pro employee management that the decision was made that the employees would buy heavily into the company, and ALL manufacturing decisions would carry ALSO the weight of the employees did the company turn around to be what it is today. The Machinists Union through COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AND A CONTRACT put together a system whereby Harley Davidson has survived and thrived. Go IAM
